Sadly the committee have taken the decision to cancel the planned Australian Discworld Convention in April 2022. Because of the continuing uncertainty about travel within Australia and from overseas, as well as the risk of future outbreaks, we felt that we could not be certain that we could run a safe and successful convention. This decision was not taken lightly. Our first concern is for the health and safety of our guests and members.
For those of you who had already bought Attending Memberships to the convention, we will be refunding you the difference between what you paid and the Supporting Membership fee. Supporting Membership fees already collected will go part of the way towards defraying costs already incurred, including non-refundable venue deposits and insurance premiums. If you are an attending member and have not been contacted about a refund by December 18th, 2021, please contact us with your membership number.
On a positive note, we will carry on with the planned Virtual Hogswatch event on Saturday 11th December, 2021. We would love to see you there and finish a very challenging year on a high note.
We still hope to see you all in person at a future event once COVID is well and truly behind us.
The content below shows some of the plans we did have for an in-person convention. We're leaving it here for historical interest.
Our theme this year is the bustling, thriving city of Ankh Morpork - home to the Unseen University, the Opera House, Music with Rocks In, the new fangled railway and a million industrious citizens of many species.
