What nights to book for?

The Australian Discworld Convention officially starts around midday on Friday, 12 July 2024, and will officially finish after the Closing Ceremony at about 6pm on Sunday 14 July 2024. So we'd recommend staying at least the Friday and Saturday nights at the hotel, as activities will run late into the evening (up to midnight, maybe!) on those nights.

However, if you are travelling from far away - interstate or overseas - we'd recommend checking in on Thursday 11 July 2024, as many others will also come early and it gives us a chance to catch up with each other (or meet new people) that evening and have a relaxed breakfast the next morning... or you could help the committee with the setup as there will be lots to do.

Also, if you want a fun Sunday night, there is the unofficial "Dead Monkey Party" held - generally in the hotel's bar - after everything has been packed away. It's just a chance for everyone who's had a packed convention weekend to unwind and have a drink and chat with all their old and new friends. If this sounds like you, then booking in for Sunday night may also be a good idea.

If you want to arrive early (Thursday check in) and leave late (Monday check out) then that means booking four nights accommodation. We highly recommend this for those who want the "full" convention experience, but you'll still be perfectly fine if you can only arrive Friday morning and have to leave on Sunday evening.
