Keeping Healthy and Hygienic
Greetings to all our friends and followers, and we hope that you are all well in these days of lockdowns and social distancing. Please take care and look after yourselves (and maybe pull out a favourite Discworld book to while away the hours).
At the moment we are continuing to plan the convention on the basis that we will be able to go ahead in July 2021. We want to be able to deliver 3 amazing days of Sir Terry Pratchett inspired fun and entertainment (with a little education thrown in). We think that we could all benefit from some humour and levity amid the stress and worries of the pandemic.
To help out, several Discworld characters have kindly offered to make some short videos on "how to wash your hands" and "social distancing". Nanny Ogg (that widely respected witch from the Ramtops Mountains) demonstrates her technique, which you can find on our social media pages, or click the picture below or this link.
Once again, Martin Pearson will be joining us at the convention, with his very special mix of humour and folk music, for a few rounds of the Hedgehog Song and A Wizard's Staff Has A Knob On The End 1
Ben McKenzie and Elizabeth Flux from Pratchat are planning to join us to record another special podcast from the convention. If you just want to listen to some lively and intelligent discussions on Sir Terry Pratchett’s books 2, then click here to visit their website.
More fantastic guests will be announced in the future!
As a little teaser, here is a picture of the stairs leading to the convention venue. We will reveal more about what you will find at the top in future newsletters.
On what would have been Terry's 72nd birthday, Narrativia3 announced a brand new exclusive partnership deal with Motive Pictures and Endeavour Content to produce new film and TV products based in the Discworld universe.
'Rob Wilkins, Managing Director of Narrativia [and guest of honour at several previous Australian Discworld Conventions], says: "The Discworld books are a huge source of joy to millions of readers, and rightly so; every paragraph, phrase and footnote was crafted with brilliance and flair and we are committed to bringing Terry's world to the screen with the respect and care it deserves. With this partnership, we are delighted to say that Discworld has finally found its home."'
And on the 30th anniversary of the publication of Good Omens (May 1st, 1990), Neil Gaiman, Michael Sheen and David Tennant have teamed up with Narrativia and The Blank Corporation to release this lovely little bonus Good Omens episode showing how Aziraphale and Crowley are coping with the 2020 pandemic lockdown. You can watch it on Terry Pratchett's YouTube channel here.
You can find official information here at the convention website.
